Inkspirational Challenges: Shaped Cards

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to make a shaped card - something which I love to do (which might be why I chose it!).

This was a birthday card for my daughter and I used an elctronic cutting file by Furrow and Feather. I feel this kind of crafting is similar to dress-making - if you follow the pattern, you should end up with something very like the original. The creative fun comes in the customisation.  I used some differet colours to the original design and, as her birthday is on Valentine's Day, added heart patterned 'wallpaper' and epoxy hearts to the plant pot and sideboard.

Plants and Triangles

Lots of fiddly masking for this one! I used plants from a MFT set (coloured with Promarkers and embellished with black and white pens)  and a Tim Holtz stencil.

Bee my Valentine

Just for fun, made a bee-themed valentine card using an old Jellypark digi, coloured with Promarkers. I layered two stencils to make the honeycomb heart and printed the sentiment from my computer.

Peacock Valentine

Oh, I'm finding it difficult getting good photos at the moment. Not sure how much of it is due to winter and how much is the low light levels in our flat.

Just in case you've been following my exciting life :) - we moved to a new town a month ago. The house we were buying fell through and so now we're renting a much smaller flat, while we wait for the (different) house we're buying to become vacant. So it's back to crafting on the table and clearing it all away before a meal - not great for my creative juices. (I've also had to put most of my craft stuff into storage.) I can't grumble though, there'll be plenty of space for a craft room in our new house.

Anyway, here's a Valentine's card for my partner, using die cut letters and a stamp by Avery Elle.

Inkspirational Challenges : Heart Garland Photo

Our new challene at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by this photo:

This is my DT card but I'm sure you can detect that I've cheated a little - I didn't make this card especially for the challenge but I thought with the heart shape and bouquets it would fit in with the hearts and flowers theme.

Although I haven't posted it previously, this was made for my daughter's wedding last August. I used my Silhouette digital cutter to design and cut it. As it was a same-sex wedding, there weren't many suitable cutting files to buy, so I created my own, welding together the heart, word and silhouettes found online; and cutting them out of silver glitter card.

I hope you'll join in the challenge at Inkspirational.
