Guest Designer at Casology - Sunset

Today, I'm honoured to be Guest Designer at Casology!

The cue card is 'sunset' and for my card I made an unconventional Christmas card, featuring the three kings setting off at sunset. I thought the triangle was reminiscent of both pyramids and Christmas trees, and made for a more cas look.

Once I had the idea it was very simple to make ... well, it should have been! Using my Silhouette Cameo digital cutting machine, I traced and cut a clip-art image of the three kings. I cut a simple triangle shape and inked through it in sunset colours, I had four attempts at this before I got one that had ink in the right places, not the wrong ones.. simple cards come easily to me but clean...not so much!

Thanks Casology for having me as GD.

The Library Challenge- How to Catch a Star

The new challenge at The Library  is How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers.

I raided my son's bookcase for this one....he's 13 now so doesn't read picture books anymore but we've not got round to giving them away. This one has such beautiful illustrations - I think I'll keep it.

For my first card (top) , I used a new Stamping Bella stamp, coloured with Promarkers, with shimmer pen on the skirt and metallic silver glitter on the star. The sentiment is a combination of sets.
I'd like to enter this card into:

My second card was clearly inspired by the cover, with the colours and the space theme. The galaxy background was an old freebie paper and I coloured the MFT stamps with Promarkers,

Pink Christmas Sweaters

glitter shot

Let's not mention that I've spent most of this morning, yet again, rearranging celebration plans because of Covid - this time my friend's birthday plans were spoilt when London's alert level was suddenly raised - let's just say I enjoyed making this pink Christmas card for the following challenges:

Inkspirational Challenges -Halloween Picture

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is the photo below.

For my DT project I scrapped a Halloween photo . It's not that close a match to the photo tbh, but there are several elements - the autumnal coloured papers, the pumpkin motif and the use of black.

The Library Challenge - Pick of the Paperbacks

The new challenge at The Library is Pick of the Paperbacks.

My first card was inspired by Bernadine Evaristo's  Booker-Prize-winning novel, Girl , Woman, Other, which tells the stories of black women in Britain.  I was inspired by the cover, and used an Angie Blom digital stamp which I coloured with Promarkers and paper-pieced. The sentiment is from an Alte New flower set,

I'd like to enter this into:

Sweet Stampin  - old stash - the orange paper is from defunct company October Afternoon and the floral paper was a magazine freebie from 2011!
CD Sunday  the image is a digital download

My second card was inspired by the autumnal outfit on the cover of  Eleanor Oliphant  is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. (This book is also available with a different cover but this is the nicest, I think). I really love this book and recommend it for a funny and heartwarming read. (I've heard it described as 'uplit' - fiction that's uplifting and life-affirming.)

I used my (stash shopping alert!) new Stamping Bella stamp, masked, so a scene stamp could be stamped behind . I coloured the image with Promarkers and paper-piecing and added a sentiment.

I'd like to enter this one into:

Alpaca Christmas

Here's a Christmas card, combining some challenges. The alpaca and sentiment are by Sticker Kitten. I stamped the saddle part of the alpaca stamp twice and heat embossed it in gold and layered it on. The sentiment,  and the stitched circle (49 and Market) are also heat embossed.

Autumn Dragon

It's a wet weekend here in Hertfordshire but I couldn't be happier....my mojo has returned! Earlier in the week I was thinking about auctioning off my (very considerable) craft stash but it seems all it's taken is for me to have a weekend where I've forbidden myself from working!

So here I'm combining a few challenges ...these always help me to get going.  The dragon stamp is MFT and the leaves and leaf pile are Lawn Fawn. I find these very useful for autumn cards and I masked off the edges to add a few extra leaves to broaden the pile at the bottom. My images were coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment is Clearly Besotted. There's a touch of shimmer on the dragon and his smoke.

Our new challenge at Inkspirational has been chosen by Marlena, and the challenge is 'angle it'.
