The Library Challenge - The Worst Class Trip Ever.

Visiting Librarian Julie chose the new book at The Library - The Worst Class Trip Ever by Dave Berry. I'd not heard of this book before but it looks really fun and is probably aimed at the age group of my son (12) , so maybe he might be interested in it.

I hope you can see how I drew inspiration from the cover! I actually bought these Waffle Flower Roman stamps especially for it as I was inspired by the cover's historic building and statues. I coloured the Roman with Promarkers and stamped a balloon (Clearly Besotted) to echo the kites/balloons on the cover. I looked up the Latin for Happy Birthday and designed and cut it on the Silhouette. (Hope I got this right and it doesn't say something rude!) Finally, I stamped 'You are a classic' from Neat and Tangled's record player set.

Did I miss the cake?

I was late with my (grown-up) nephew's birthday card last week...but at least I got the chance to use these fun sentiments from Wplus9.  The cat is by Katzelcraft, I heat embossed him in black on coloured card, masked him and stencilled the background,

Santa Cloche

This little Santa came in a new MFT set and it was smaller than I'd expected, so I decided to put him in a Flora and Fauna Bell Jar. I coloured in with Promarkers , stamped the stars (from the F and F set) and added silver gel pen. The sentiment is from the same MFT set and the falling snow is white gel pen.

Huggy Christmas

Well, I've shamelessly copied an idea I saw by Waffle Flower . They sell a die to make similar cards to this but as I have a Silhouette digital cutting machine, I thought I'd have a go at designing my own version.

After cutting it out, I used an embossing folder on the sleeves, stamped and embossed the sentiment (various sets) and cut the mittens from old freebie paper.

If you have a Silhouette and would like the cutting file, I'm happy to email it to you.

Library Reminder - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Time for a reminder at The Library.

I made a scrapbook layout of my grandchildren meeting 'Harry'. I used very old Basic Grey papers , which I distressed by ripping and inking. I found silhouettes of owls online and traced and cut them using my Silhouette Cameo.

Inkspirational Challenge - Mask

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by the word 'mask'.

For my DT card, I made a birthday card for my best friend. In times of difficulty , we sometimes sing/text lines from the Wonder Woman theme tune at each other! (Get us out from under, Wonder Woman.) So, the Lil Inker superhero set , with it's masked and caped bunny (?) seemed ideal.

I paper-pieced the cape , coloured the bunny with Promarkers and a white gel pen, and added a strip of stripy paper and a 'fabulous friend' sentiment(Craftwork Cards).

I hope you'll join in the challenge.

The Library Challenge - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

The new book at The Library is Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone, by JK Rowling. When it was first published in 1997, who could have predicted how popular this book would become?

One devotee is my grandson, and this birthday card was for him. I used a Bugaboo digi, coloured with Promarkers and stamped stars, the nine and the sentiment.

On the challenge blog, I also posted this Hagrid bookmark, using a Lettering Delights cutting file, which I made (and posted) previously in the year.

Library Reminder - The Secret Garden

Time for a reminder at The Library.

In The Secret Garden , a boy called Dicken has a pet fox (you can also see a fox on the book cover). I made this simple card using a digital image from A Day for Daisies and a stamped sentiment.

The Ski Scene

shimmer shot
I made this card to join in a few challenges. The snowscene behind the woman is very shimmery! I seem to be very heavy-handed with shimmer pens and often manage to accidentally flood huge globs onto my images. The woman stamp is by Stamping Bella (at last, some SB legs that are thick enough for me to colour in!), the mountains are Avery Elle and the trees are Neat and Tangled.

Inkspirational - Photo

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by this photo:
Just as I was writing this post, I heard a noise overhead , looked out of the window and saw a flock of seven geese flying over the houses. This happens a lot at this time of year and I love it, so that's what inspired this shaker card , along with the leaf in the picture. (Some British visitors to my blog may also detect some inspiration from Hilda Ogden's flying ducks!)

I hope you'll enter the challenge.

Christmas Gifts

I don't think this row of gifts is actually a Christmas stamp, but I hope I've made it look Christmassy in red and green, with gold highlights and a shimmer pen. The sentiment might also help!
