Patisserie in the rain.

I love A Day for Daisies digi-stamps and really wanted to take part in the challenge on the ADFD blog - 'Found Paper'- but initially was stuck for an idea. However, a rummage in the recycling bin turned up a white window envelope ( from the bank!)  with a blue herringbone pattern inside .

First I coloured the ADFD image of the girl with an umbrella and then paper pieced the paper from the envelope. I clear embossed the paper on the outside of the umbrella to give it some shine. The puddle is a Crafter's Companion Adorables stamp.

I decided to make the cellophane window of the envelope into a shop window and, remembering the photo inspiration at Papercrafting Journey , decided to make it a patisserie. The patisserie images are from a My Craft Studio CD, Shop Fronts. When I was outlining the window, it bled a bit into the paper. I did consider ways of covering it uip but in the end I decide to live with it. This card is not just handmade..it's home-made! It doesn't have to be perfect - does it????!!

As well as the ADFD and Papercrafing Journey challenges, I'd also like to enter this for Jellypark What's the Weather.

City Scooter

Isn't it great when you get a chance to miss your loved ones??! My partner has taken our little boy out for the day, so I've been busy making cards and ..er..sleeping.

The top bit of this card (the city) was from a card- making kit - it was a patterned card blank, so I cut that bit off and stuck it on a plain card. The scooter is a Kars acrylic stamp and I cut the 'road' from red card, using a Xcut border punch.

I'd like to enter this for the following challenges:

London Calling

As soon as I saw the challenge , "Things are looking Grimm", at Corrosive Challenges, I knew I'd be taking part. I had loads of ideas but I soon got making this card - Dick Whittington, off to London to seek his fortune.

The boy is from a My Craft Studio Cd - I cut him out, coloured him with Promarkers and stuck him onto the background with dimensional pads. The drawing of medieval London was found on the internet and the cat is a Craft Stamper freebie. Okay, so I've mixed my eras a bit but - hey- this is a fairy tale!

Nun's Choice

Well...I've spent the evening making something totally useless and senseless - a milk carton. And it has taken me most of the evening; I'm rubbish at scoring and folding type things, even with my new Hougie board! The nun and cow is a quirky UM I got years ago (Viva Las Vegas Stamps?)  and the circles are from a Fiskars set.

I gave my 'product' a name and strap line - "Nun's Choice - The Superior Dairy Solution". I could fill it with milk chocolate and give it away ...if only I hadn't glued the spout shut!

I'd like to enter this for the following challenges:

St. Patrick's Day Card

Last week, I sent my friend a St. David’s Day card. She was delighted and said she’d never had one before. She asked me if I was making St. Patrick’s Day cards ...well I wasn’t going to......

These girls are an A Day for Daisies digi stamp. I used promarkers and lots of paper scraps, a clip art shamrock and made my own sentiment.

This will be going to the same friend – her dad’s Welsh but her mum is Irish, so she can celebrate both national days.

I'd like to enter these challenges:
Do You Stack Up  Go Green
Corrosive Challenges Give Piece a Chance
Sugar Creek Hollow Monochromatic Green
Simply Create I'm sooo lucky

Steampunk Superhero

I love this superhero image from A Day for Daisies and I wanted to do something different from the classic Superman red and blue.

It’s my brother’s birthday early next month and he’s a real action man. I decided to make a birthday card for him and give it a bit of a ‘steampunk’ look.

The die cut tandem  and all the card / papers are from Hunkydory. I paper-pieced the cape and leggings and coloured him with Promarkers. The cogs are Tim Holtz.

To personalise the card, I added a G to the badge on his chest (my brother’s name initial), coloured the hair ginger (like my brother), and added the sentiment ‘To a Super Brother’, using Safmat.

I’ve been using a lot of neutrals lately...think I’d better do something bright and colourful next!

I'd like to enter this for the following challenges:

Sarah Hurley Birthday celebrations
Polkadoodle Boys or Men
Scrappy Frogs Seeing spots

More Krafty craft

When I saw this weeks challenge at Dragon's Dream - for an Alice in Wonderland tag - I knew I had to enter! I had some Kraft card leftover from my last project and I die cut a tag from it. I stamped and masked Alice and then printed the text. I found the text on the internet - it is Alice in Wonderland - and I changed the font and colour before printing . I stamped the door ( Adorables) and grasses (Artemio) and added black jewels, ribbon and charms. I coloured Alice with pencils.
As well as Dragon's Dream, I'd also like to enter this for:

Magazine Addict - Craft Stamper April 2012

Isn't this hare stamp a fantastic free gift?
I kept it simple with a Kraft panel with a hole cut out and some 'stitching' (after my struggles with the sewing machine earlier, I've gone back to faux! ).

For my sister

My sister's birthday is on Good Friday this year and so I'm way ahead thanks to the challenges I'm entering this for.

First, A Day for Daisies. Their challenge is 'Dress it up with Gingham' and I used the freebie chicks they provided and combined it with the little girl from their March club kit.

The colour combination came from Daring Cardmakers - Caramel, Pale Lemon, Duck egg and a touch of gold.

For the finishing touch, I went to The Paper Variety - Tic Tac Toe. I was already sorted for the first two - Create a card and Spring theme. So I chose to add 'include stitching'. Oh my !!! That scrap of paper was much bigger when I first put it in my sewing machine. The top thread kept pinging out, leaving me with empty holes and I had to keep trimming the paper and starting again!
