City Crafter Challenge Blog - Christmas CAS

This week at City Crafter , Kirsty wants us to make one-layer Christmas cards.

My card is super-simple with a Pink Fresh Studio stamp, stamped twice and heat embossed in white. Then I added a sentiment and called it done!

I hope you'll join in this week.

Inkspirational - Make a card in 10 minutes or less

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  ha been chosen by Sandie and she wants us to make a card in ten minutes or less. I think Sandie must be taking revenge for all the challenging challenges I've inflicted on her because I found this really hard! This was not my first attempt. The card above came in at 9 minutes 20 seconds but that was only because I stopped the clock every time I had to go looking for something, warm up the heat gun etc. Cheating??

Anyway, here I white embossed the flowers and watercoloured with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals, then stamped the sentiment over the top. Sounds simple doesn't it? I can't believe it took me that long!

Our Guest |Designer is Deanne , so do come over to Inkspirational to see what she and the rest of the DT made in under ten minutes.

City Crafter - Butterflies

This week at City Crafter, Lucille has chosen 'butterflies' as the theme.

For my DT project I made an inky background on a tag and stamped it with flowers and butterfles from different sets. The sentiment is Waffle Flower. I added some white gel pen and a doodled frame.

I hope you'll come and join in our challenge.

Colourful Layout

That colourful paper , that I've used so sparingly, is the dregs of a very old Echo Park set. The letter and number stickers are from the same set. The 'you add' and 'to my world' are a cut up sentiment from Neat and Tangled. The stamp had the American spelling of 'colour', which I am too uptight to use, so I was pleased I was able to make it work here as a title.

P.S - This was taken in summer 2015 - do you notice my son's long-sleeve top? Obviously summers were colder then......

Guest Designer for Lasting Memories - You are My Favourite

It's my final layout as Guest Designer at Lasting Memories  - what wonderful hosts they've been!

Anyway, this layout is a bit of a weird one ... the challenge is to scrap one of your favourite things. I love reading and so I decided to scrap one of the best books I've read this year- Station Eleven by Emily St.John Mandel.

Here's the journalling:

I love to read and Station Eleven is one
of the most memorable books I’ve read this
year. It’s a novel about an apocalypse and
its aftermath. This layout incorporates some
of the themes from the book : a performance
of King Lear, a space-themed comic book, an
 airport, surviving in a post-technological
world and the motto ‘Survival is Insufficient.’
I must say, this was really fun to make! I'd love to see you scrap something that is your favourite.

The Library Challenge - The Little Mermaid

The new Library Challenge  is The Little Mermaid so I thought outside the box  made two mermaid cards! Obvs.

For the first one I cut out a mermaid's tail on the Silhouette and added scales using a stencil and Cosmic Shimmer gilding polish.  I stamped the circles/text stamp onto an alcohol ink background and added pearl shimmer powder.

I'd like to enter this card into:

For my second card I  stamped the mermaid, masked her and stamped the bell jar (Hunkydory) . The fish and sentiment came from various sets. I added some clear glossy drops.

The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen and illustrated by Christian Birmingham. Love this story too! Again, very sad though, definitely does not have a Disney ending

Let me get this off my chest....

I love paper-piecing but I can't deny it's a fiddly job. No matter how careful I am , somehow, I'm bound to cut out all the pieces and still find a piece missing when I come to assemble it.

And today was no different - I cut out the scarf, put it aside, then had to search all over for it till I gave up and did it again.

Later, I sat down at my PC to read some emails, felt an irritation in my cleavage, fished down and found...the cut-out scarf! How???!!!

Thirsty Work

Here's a layout I made to join the  CSI Challenge  . The cloud paper and the letter stickers are by Echo Park.  I added black and white patterned paper to a chipboard cloud (top right) and doodled a border. The background was made with a yellow ink pad.

Here's the 'evidence': colours, stripes, woodgrain pattern, lemon, banner, clouds, straw, black and white pattern . words- refreshing, bright ....adorable????

I'd also like to link up at Binimi Moose.

Guest Designer at Cas Christmas - Poinsettia - Reminder

I'm enjoying being Guest Designer at CAS Christmas . Thank you for all the lovely visits and comments from the Design Team.

We're now midway through the Poinsettia challenge and so here's my second card. I actually used four different stamp sets here - the easel, the pot of brushes, the greeting and the same Avery Elle poinsettia stamp I used on my first GD card. I coloured everything with Promarkers.

I hope you'll join in the challenge.

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Pineapple

This week, at City Crafter, Amy has picked a pineapple theme.

For my DT project I made a fridge magnet - yes, that silver thing in the picture is my fridge! I used a cut-file and sheet of Silhouette magnet paper, and I cut the pineapple out of a mix of plain and glitter cardstock, using my Silhouette machine.

Please come and play with us at City Crafter.

Guest Designer at Lasting Memories - Throwback to Your Glory Days

I hope you don't think this is a vintage photo, as that little girl on the far left is me - and I'm not vintage! The weird girl is my sister (she'll never catch me on here!)

I'm very much enjoying my month as Guest Designer at Lasting Memories. This week , the challenge was to scrap a photo from our past. I also decided to use some stash from my past (everything is very old, apart from the wooden letters and birds), and a technique from my past (the fake double-sided paper on the corners).

I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy.

Naut Again!

Nautical but Nice - it's my favourite pun and it's not the first time I've used it and it probably won't be the last!

Here I scrapped some photos from 2015, using some very old stash. There are three papers from The English Paper Company and one by Basic Grey. I found myself browsing scrapbooking kit clubs last night and had to restrain myself and resolve to use up the stash I already have.

Inkspirational Challenges - Birthday

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is the word 'birthday'. An easy challenge at last!!! Here I used a Craftwork Cards balloon (the sentiment is part of the stamp, black embossed onto a Distress Ink background from my bits box. The layer on top of the base is also from the bits box. I think it was made with Gelatos- I never got to grips with them. I really must dig them out and either use them or get rid of them.

Anyway I defy you to say you don't need any birthday cards. Make birthday cards and join in our challenge!
