Australian Birthday

My daughter asked me to make a card for her colleague ( a fellow midwife) who is celebrating her 50th birthday with a trip to Australia.

I designed and cut it entirely on the Silhouette (digital cutter) , using computer fonts and outlines of images found on the net. (The hole is the outline of the map of Australia). To add texture I used a Stampin Up embossing folder, and I cut the 50 and the kangaroo (or is it a wallaby?) from glitter card.

Make Waves

There's something scary on this card - can you spot what it is?

It's not the mermaid (well, I don't think she's scary) - she is from a dingbats font that I bought from the Silhouette store, I printed her onto cardstock and coloured her with Promarkers. I put shimmer pen on her tail and made scales with a white gel pen. I masked her and sprayed the background with a mixture of Cosmic Shimmer and Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays - when I was mixing them together I managed to knock one of them over and I now have very blue fingers . (Messy but not scary.)

Next I stamped an Inkylicious texture stamp in grey ink and added pink Liquid Pearls. The 'Make Waves' sentiment was from the same dingbats font as the mermaid and I cut it on the Silhouette. But I wanted it to say 'Be a mermaid - make waves' and I didn't have anything that said 'be a mermaid' so I picked up a pen and wrote it! I put my handwriting on my card! That's scary!

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Tag

This week at City Crafter, Amy wants us to use a tag.

For my DT project I used a Paper Artsy tag stamp, and cut it out with a border, using the Silhouette digital cutter. I masked off the edges and stamped the trees (Paper Smooches) and stencilled the background (Tim Holtz). The sentiment is Paper Artsy. I coloured with markers and added shimmer pen to the heart.

We look forward to seeing your projects for this challenge but please first go over to the blog and see wonderful projects  the rest of the DT have made.

Easter Eggs-press

I tried something a bit different for me on this card. I stamped the image onto watercolour card and then watercoloured around the image, using Distress inks. Then I coloured the image with alcohol markers. The image is by Neat and Tangled and the sentiment is by Heffy Doodle.

Windmill

This set by Avery Elle was an impulse buy - I'm always attracted to windmills in real life and in crafts. But it has set on my desk for weeks - I just couldn't think of what to do with it. Googling images brought up loads of lovely designs - but that didn't really help as I thought all ideas had been taken and done better than I could. Then I noticed that all the designs I was looking at had used the matching dies to cut them out. So I thought I'd make a card with just some simple stamping, masking and colouring. The sentiments are by Hampton Art.

City Crafter - M is for Monogram - with prize!

This week at City Crafter we have a guest host, Brandy who is offering a prize for the challenge. And the challenge is to use a monogram - one prominent letter.

My DT card is one I made a while back for one of my daughter's friends. I cut it out on the Silhouette digital cutter and added Distress ink and liquid pearls.

This is the prize you could win - Concord and 9th monogram die.

We look forward to seeing your projects for this challenge but please first go over to the blog and see wonderful projects  the rest of the DT have made.

Sympathy

Sadly, I needed to make a sympathy card . I used a very old stamp by Cherry Pie Art , a sentiment (MFT I think) and a stencil that I'd cut myself on my digital cutting machine.

I coloured in the birds using a Memento black pen - the most useful pen in the craft world. (Yes, even more useful than a white gel pen!).

The Library Challenge - Watership Down

"Bright eyes...burning like fire..."
Ever since I chose Watership Down for The Library challenge , I've been annoying myself by singing the movie theme tune.

For my first card I stamped and silver embossed a 'moon' by The Ton  and stamped the rabbit (Personal Impressions) and sentiment (Pink Fresh)..and that was it! This card was inspired by the cover of the book.

Calm and Bright

It's snowing again!
In real-life and on my card.
The image and the sentiment are different Penny Black sets.  I coloured it with alcohol markers (with gel pen snow) and cut it in this shape because originally it was going to go into a snowdome. But I changed my mind.

City Crafter - Is Anybunny There?

My turn to choose the challenge at City Crafter, and with Easter coming up I thought it's be nice to use rabbits (or just bunny ears) on our projects.

These rabbits are from a set by Heffy Doodle- I stamped them onto punched squares and coloured them with Promarkers. On the card base I added threes score lines , a sentiment (Neat and Tangled) and some Nuvo drops.

We look forward to seeing your projects for this challenge but please first go over to the blog and see wonderful projects  the rest of the DT have made.

Grey Elephant

I do love circular stamps, of the kind that have open space in the middle. I got a new set from Winnie and Walter that has lots of them - I've used two here. The elephant is from a different Winnie and Walter set , the speech bubble is Craftwork Cards and the sentiment is (I think) Hero Arts. I spritzed the base card with Cosmic Shimmer spray.
