The Library Challenge - Mary Poppins

At The Library, the book is Mary Poppins by PL Travers.

Mary Poppins was one of my favourite books as a child and I read all the (many) sequels too - Mary Poppins in the Park is one I remember. I also loved the film - still do! - although I haven't seen the recent film yet.  (I do remember the Mary of the book seeming a little less sweet than the movie version).

For my first card I made a colourful background using Distress Inks. I stamped the row of houses twice and cut Mary's silhouette using a free SVG file.

For my second card I just chose one element of the story and cover - Mary's umbrella. I used a MFT stamp, coloured with Promarkers and paper-pieced, and an Avery Elle sentiment and banner.

I hope you'll join in the challenge at The Library.

Fourteenth Birthday

Happy Mothers' Day to all you mums in the UK. I'll be going over to my daughter's , where I expect to be waited on hand and foot (haha!)

Today, I'm sharing a card I made for my grandson's birthday a few weeks ago. Yes, it's a shaker! I'm not really good at shaker cards - I always seem to get some sequins stuck to the edges- but they still shake in a fun way , so I persevere.

I'd like to enter:

Greenery

glitter shot !

As the International Month of Green Cards draws to a close, I thought I'd better post this very green card.

I stamped the flowers (actually all one stamp) in green ink and then used a aqua shimmer pen to draw the green into the image.

Black and White Christmas

I've been meaning to enter the 'deer' CAS Christmas  and this week I received a stamp set that I was lucky enough to win at Christmas Kickstart. I realised that if I used the deer stamp from the set I could also get a second entry into the current Christmas Kickstart challenge (hooves)  too. So here it is!

The Library Challenge Reminder - Town Mouse and Country Mouse

I made another card for The Town Mouse and Country Mouse challenge at The Library.

It's a simple one-layer card using a digital image which I printed and coloured with Promarkers. The image was on a magazine freebie CD many years ago. I think the sentiment stamp was a freebie from Craft Stamper too, so all in all, a cheap card!

If you have any mouse stamps or images, or anything else that relates to the book cover, story or title ( daisies? tree houses? ) - why not come over to The Library and join in?

Inkspirational - Cloud

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is to be inspired by the word 'cloud'.

For my DT project I stamped an image, coloured it with Promarkers, then created the clouds using a cloud-edge stencil. (I actually made it myself, but I got the idea from MFT). I then stamped the sentiments.

We'd love you to join in the challenge.

Pencils on Teal

Hi everyone.
For this card I used coloured pencils on coloured cardstock - not my usual MO - I'm not really confident with coloured pencils. I added random white dots as I've seen done by crafters whose flower cards I admire...think I might have overdone it a bit though! ( A bit like catching sight of your bright red cheeks in a shop mirror and realising you've overdone the blusher!)

The Library - The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse

At The Library, the book is The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse.
Usborne-Town-Mouse-and-the-Country-Mouse-c2007-NEW-Hardcover

For my first card, I used various stamp sets to create a scene where the two mice meet, with their homes in the background. I coloured it with Promarkers.

I'd like to enter the first card into:
Shopping Our Stash friendship

I know what you're thinking about my second project (hopefully not 'what a mess!') - 'Where is the mouse?' Well, my friend, YOU are the mouse, peeping through the undergrowth at your windmill home in the distance. ( I always think of mice living in windmills, due to my favourite childhood song).

The base of this postcard is a real old library card , one of several kindly sent to me a while back by fellow crafter Mimi (She's Crafty ) - it was this card that inspired me to choose this story.

I used Brushos and stamps from different sets.

Prickly Pink

I was inspired by this photo at Hand Stamped Sentiments:
I used a stamp set by MFT, a Tim Holz stencil and a Clearly Besotted sentiment. I coloured with Promarkers.  I had my phone next to me while I was making it and snapped some of the process.

All masked up and stencilled

Ready to colour
It's really satisfying seeing it come together after all that masking.

I'd also like to enter:

I Couldn't Bear....

...to miss the current (Bears) challenge  at Christmas Kickstart . Unfortunately that meant creating one while the Great Battle of the Homework raged around me, occasionally having to break off to mediate between the warring factions (my son and his dad). It's a miracle it got finished.

Unfortunately the poor lighting doesn't show that the background stamp is covered with gold mica powders and the scarf was coloured with gold glitter pen.

As well as Christmas Kickstart, I'd like to join in with Just Us Girls and 52 CCT.

The Library Challenge - Reminder - The Party

I made an extra card for The Library challenge 'The Party'.

I used Avery Elle stamps , Promarkers and coloured shimmer pens. I hope you'll join in the challenge.

Christmas Piano

This piano stamp (I think it was by Hampton) isn't a Christmas stamp so I hope I've got away with using it on a Christmas card. I embossed it in white and then inked over it with Distress inks, which I sprayed with water, I added two sentiments and some gold Liquid Pearls.

Bouncing

Here's a quick card I made to join in some challenges...and when I say quick I mean the idea was quick, the construction was quick ... but looking for the stamps took quite a long time! I have LOTS of stamps and an inability to categorise, which means I can never find the ones I want.

Anyway, all the stamps here are from a Waffle Flower set , except the trampoline, which is by Poppystamps.
