The Library Challenge - What to Look for in Autumn

The new challenge at The Library is What to Look for in Autumn.

I have five siblings and we had LOTS of these Ladybird books as children - they were relatively cheap, available everywhere and had loads of titles, including fairy tales, fact books (The Hovercraft was one we had!) and 'how to' books.

For my card, I used squirrels and apples from two different Clearly Besotted sets and a fence from  Kaisercraft, all coloured with Promarkers and put onto a dark brown base.

Inkspirational Challenges - Day

Sorry these photos are not the best. I made it, snapped it and sent it off to my sister for her birthday , so couldn't go back and retake the pictures.

Anyway, this is my DT card for Inkspirational  and the challenge is:

The garland is a Silhouette cutting file and I manipulated it in Silhouette Studio to make the inside bit. The flower in the aperture is on a nylon thread and you can wind it up before you put the card in the envelope so it spins when opened. The sentiment is an old Craft Stamper freebie.

I've gotta say, the new Blogger is annoying me now. I think they've changed things again, even more recently than the big change and it seems I can no longer copy and paste blog badges onto my blog. I don't want to have to save every single challenge blog badge to my hard-drive, do you?

The Library Challenge - The Cat in The Hat

The new challenge at The Library is The Cat in The Hat by Dr Seuss.

The Cat in the Hat: Green Back Book (Dr. Seuss - Green Back Book),Dr. Seuss

For my sample card I stamped a cat from Katzelcraft wearing a witch's hat from a complimentary Katzelcraft set. These are unmounted rubber stamps and the number of fails I had trying to get the hat on the cat reminded me of what an innovation clear stamps are! In the end, I hand-cut the cat and hat separately and got the hat onto the cat that way!

I made the background with Distress Inks and stamped the sentiment in the moon.

PS - When I went to link this up at Watercooler, I noticed that their challenge last week was won by Cornelia using the same cat, wearing the same hat! Of course, the stamps are made to go together but there are six cats and five hats to choose from so was it coincidence or did I see Cornelia's wonderful card and subconsciously CASE it?!

Kittens in a Christmas Stocking

I actually made this while away on holiday last month, but never got around to blogging it. The kittens are a Poppy Stamps stamp, I think, paper-pieced and coloured with Promarkers. The 'Wonderful' is a sticker - well, separate letters stickers but they came as a word (if you know what I mean!). The base is navy , not black as it may appear in the photo.

Yellow and Green Birthday

I made this card for a few challenges. The stamp is an old one from October Afternoon - a company that closed around 2016, I think.  I paper-pieced with Basic Grey patterned paper - another defunct company. The sentiment though is by Clearly Besotted who are alive and kicking.

Fun Run

This Sunday my son will have his first football (soccer) match in months. Ages ago, one of the other mums invited us to her 50th birthday party which would have been last weekend but, of course, it had to be cancelled. So I had to send her this card. I chose the theme because she likes (or forces herself!) to go for a run while the boys are warming up.

To make the 'bridge' or 'u-fold' card, I followed some really clear instructions found here.  I cut the shapes on the Silhouette , using some svg files from my library and creating the runner using clip art. I used a home-made stencil to make the cloud background and stamped the sentiment.

From Our House

I'm case-ing a Jingle Belle for the challenge at Jingle Belles  It was so hard to choose a card to case, as there have been so many many fabulous cards over the years.  In the end, I chose Lauren's card from 2016.

The pieces were all cut on my Silhouette. The snowglobe (which originally had a snowman in it) and the house are separate SVG cutting files from Miss Kate Cuttables.

As well as Jingle Belles, I'd like to enter:

Inkspirational Challenges - Birthday Photo

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is the photo below.

For my DT card I stamped a MFT bear and added a balloon and a crown (one I made myself by tracing a clip art image in Silhouette Studio).  The frame was cut on the Silhouette and embossed with woodgrain. I used Promarkers to colour in.

Guest Designer at Creative Artiste

I'm honoured today to be the Guest Designer at Creative Artiste!

Creative Artiste is a mixed media challenge so I thought it'd be a good time to step away from the cards and make something different. So I made a 'thing'!

My 'thing' is supposed to go near a window to catch the light, but it was very difficult to photograph.
It is made from three layers of glass slides (Ranger Memory Glass - these have been in my stash for many years). I used an Alte New layering stamp, stamping and embossing one layer in black on the top slide, and another layer in clear ink and pink mica powders. I added more colour with alcohol ink. I smeared glitter glue over the bottom glass slide, which added sparkle but also helped hold it together. Finally, I added the sentiment and wrapped the slide edges with silver tape.

Thank you to Andree  for her kind encouragement and thanks for having me at Creative Artiste.
