Inkspirational Challenges - Plaid

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is a pattern that we in the UK call check or tartan but my international team-mates have called.......

For my DT card I rounded up my tartan paper scraps and cut them on my Silhouette to form a triangle Christmas tree. Then I stamped the sentiment below it.

Snippety Snowman

Here's another card I made while supposedly sorting things out for my house move!  Everything here was in my bits bag - the sentiment was already stamped, the circle cut and the snowman, a free digi , was printed out, waiting to be coloured and cut out.

Type Right

We'll be moving house in early January, all being well, and so I'm trying to get ahead with Christmas cards, DT projects and upcoming birthdays, before I have to pack everything away.  Got a bit distracted by challenges..

I've had the die-cut typewriter and the circle of text hanging around in my scraps for years! And as I was tidying up I came across it and recalled that Casology have a Type challenge.  So I used an embossing folder to add birthday text , stamped a check background strip and added a pink gem, all onto a pink base.

Inkspirational Challenges - Chair Photo

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by this photo:

For my DT card, I gold embossed a Hero Arts background stamp and die cut it into a shaped card with a gold frame.  I then cut the NOEL on my Silhouette. Monotony warning: expect a few more of these noels to be cropping up on my cards over the coming month, as I cut several out in different sizes!

Inkspirational Challenges - Cheer

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by the word: Cheer.

I made my DT card back  in the summer, as I wanted to give it to my daughter who had passed a professional qualification.  I made the moon and clouds with homemade stencils and ink and gel pen and the stamps were from different sets.

Inkspirational Challenges - For Boys or Men

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  was chosen by Pia , and it is:
My 14-year-old son has been part of a football team since he was about 7 years old, and it's run by Alan. I thought for his special birthday, Alan deserved a trophy, so I cut him one using my Silhouette Cameo and personalised it with his name and age. It's actually quite a small card! Hard to see on the photo, but it's silver mirror card on black.

Chickens

My daughter asked me to make a card for her to give to a colleague who is having time off for cancer treatment. She described the woman as an 'earth mother', who's very nurturing of the team, bakes for them and keeps chickens at home. She asked for no sentiment on the front.

Inspired by the chickens, I found some images online and traced them in Silhouette Studio, welding on the curved ground and cutting it electronically.  For te background I used homemade sun and cloud stencils. I distressed some patterned paper and doodled faux stitches. Finally, I added a resin heart.

Cheesy Birthday

I made this card for my grandson - when his mum asked him how he wanted his birthday cake decorated, he said he wanted it like a big cheese! I don't know why! But it gave me the idea for this card.

I used two sets from Heffy Doodles - the mice and cheese stamps, coloured with Promakers, were easy to  cut out with scissors, and the sentiment was put together using stamps from the other set.  The number 11 is shiny dimensional stickers.

Inkspirational - Autumn Leaves

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is Autumn Leaves.

In our garden we have a huge old oak tree that sheds zillions of leaves every autumn and guess who gets the thankless task of clearing them up every autumn weekend? Not me, I can tell you!  Well, thankless task no more - this year, my dear partner will receive a thank you card for his labour!

So, for my DT card I used fox and leaves stamps by Sugar Pea Designs, coloured with Promarkers and framed with a stencilled leaf  shape that I cut on my Silhouette cutting machine.

As You Like It  - fave wild animal is the fox as we get a lot of these in the garden too.

Asymmetry

I made this card for my partner's mother's birthday. I had previously scanned the Avery Elle butterfly stamps into my PC, so I used the welding tool on Silhouette Studio to cut a card blank using their outline to make a border. Then I lined 3/4 of the inside with some scrap patterned paper, stamped the butterflies onto the same paper and cut them out.

I added colour and highlights using Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. The reason the big butterfly is assymetrical is because I followed the line of a pattern that I'd stamped it on. It was only afterwards I thought -oh, butterflies are symmetrical! Then I thought- who cares? !

Finally, I stuck on the butterflies, propping one of each butterfly's wings up with a foam pad.

Inkspirational : Journey

Here's my DT card for Inkspirational .   The little stamped plane? The artful splotches? The beautifully handwritten title? All fake! It's just a piece of patterned paper, the dregs left from an old Papermania set from which I'd used my favourites long ago. All I did was ink the edges and add a plane paper-clip.

The character is a Stamping Bella stamp which I coloured with Promarkers and paper-pieced the case and scarf, with more paper from the paper pack.

Merry Berries

Here I used a Concord and 9th sentiment and a Penny Black berry stamp, repeatedly stamped around the edges. (It's actually a sort of bouquet of berries, so I just avoided the tied together bit.)  I coloured with a Zig Clean Colour marker and a white gel pen and added some wooden stars.
