Inkspirational Challenges - Moodboard

 

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is this mood board:

For my DT card I was inspired by the playful feel and the lovely colours. The idea was to look into a door that's all set up for a party, but I'm not sure if that quite comes off! I stamped a door, then masked it with scrap paper and stamped the balloons inside. I coloured them with markers and stamped a sentiment.

Believe in Father Christmas

Here, I stamped and masked Santa (MFT) and white embossed a load of elements (foliage, sentiment, stars, snowflake) from a Lil Inker set. Then I coloured in with markers.

Build a Pond and They Will Come

 

The title of this post comes from an online article giving advice on how to attract frogs to a new pond... "build a pond and they will come". We used to have a pond in our old house and my partner always loved the frogs, He's now created a pond in our current house and we're waiting for the frogs to arrive, 

Meanwhile, for his birthday, I've made him a frog shaker card, using stamps from Newton's Nook and Marianne, and a rain stencil - we've had so much rain and I think the frogs will like that,

Here, I've gone for a spring feel, with a Catherine Pooler bird stamp and stencilled background, with a birthday sentiment and a strip of dry embossing (beneath sentiment).

Masked Snowman

Here, I stamped a Picket Fence snowman and masked it. Then I made a rough mask with some scrap paper and stamped an Aall and Create background. The colour of the base card looks wrong - it is more teal than blue - I've had this same problem photographing this cardstock before - I have no idea why!

Inkspirational Challenges - Fold

 Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is:

I do like to make cards with an extra fold or two - I always feel it adds something a bit special.

For my DT card I used a mix of five sets from different companies, the biggest being a Colorado Craft bunny. I coloured all my images with watercolour pencils.

 Here I made masks out of a punched circle and some ripped paper and inked over them to create the moon and snow. Then I stamped the santa sleigh and stamped and cut out the polar bear (MFT I think).

For my DT card I kept it very simple by printing a digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil onto a card base, deliberately printing it slightly off the page. Then I stamped the sentiment on the balloon and coloured in with Promarkers.

I stamped, coloured and cut out these Penny Black frogs a while back, and they've been looking for a home ever since. The back ground, is a big Catherine Pooler stamp and I added two sentiments.

CASE-ing Carol

 

I don't usually like CASE challenges but when I saw my crafty friend Carol's beautiful card at Just us Girls , I got inspired. Here's Carol's creation:

I designed and cut the NOEL on my Silhouette digital cutter; stamped, coloured and cut out two Penny Black Christmas stamps and added some punched stars.

Inkspirational Challenges - Moodboard

 

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by this moodboard:

What lovely colours! I decided to make a Mother's Day card for my partner to give to his mum, as Mother's Day in the UK is in about two weeks. So I stamped the flowers, coloured them with markers, used some gold and mint spotty paper as the background and added them to a pink card base.

40th Birthday

 

This is the card I made for my daughter's 40th birthday which was yesterday - Valentine's Day.  As she was born on the 14th February, I always like to incorporate a heart or two on her cards. 

Here I used a Lori Whitlock digital cutting file, which I cut on a Silhouette digital cutting machine, The original design is a Valentine's card, with two heart-shaped balloons and other little hearts. However, I hope that by changing the colours and papers, and adding the numbers, I've made it suitable for a birthday. 

As I mentioned in a previous post, we had a surprise party for her last weekend. It was in a private room in a cocktail bar and there was lots of fun and cocktails. 

Here are some of the decorations I made for her cake:

I would post a photo of them in the cake, but my phone was kept behind the bar playing a 'hits of 1984' playlist I'd put together for the occasion, so I didn't get a photo.

Inkspirational Challenges - Hearts

 

Sorry this post is late - I was away all weekend at my daughter's surprise birthday party (it was a surprise to her, not me, so I suppose a poor excuse for me not planning ahead) but more of my daughter's birthday in a later post. 

This is my DT card for Inkspirational Challenges : 

For my card I used an old Docrafts Thank You stamp and die, coloured with markers. The background is a heart stencil that I used multiple times using different ink colours.

Inkspirational Challenges - Paper Piecing

 

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is my own 'Designer's Choice' - Paper Piecing. 

Paper piecing is usually thought of as 'colouring in' stamped images by cutting out patterned paper. I think though there is an older definition of using different papers to 'piece together' an image. 

For my DT card, I used some (very old!) patterned paper to 'colour in' a floral stamped image and added black dimensional drops (Nuvo?) to add back the flower centres. I used markers to colour in the rest of the image and added a die-cut sentiment.

Darts Card

 

It's my son's 17th birthday today. He's recently got into playing darts (in his bedroom , so far!) , no doubt inspired by the 17 -year-old champion, Luke Littler. 

It was a bit of a challenge to make a darts themed card. I found a games picture font by Lettering Delights and one image was the dartboard, which I cut out on the Silhouette digital cutter. The swing card was cut with a die and I added the numbers (cut on the Silhouette), patterned paper and punched silver stars.

Inkspirational Challenges - Stencil

 

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to use a stencil- with the optional twist of using more than one stencil. 

I must admit, stencils are not really my forte so, for my DT card, I just played about with some random stencils I have in my stash and created a collage background, which I splattered with some inks. My image is an A Day for Daisies stamp, coloured with Promarkers.

Surprise Party Guest - Seize the Birthday

 

I'm delighted to be a Surprise Guest at Seize the Birthday! 

The challenge is:

For my Guest card I chose dry embossing with embossing folders. I used a birthday folder on vellum and then cut a balloon shape out of silver card and embossed it with stars.
