Inkspirational #81 - Space

Do you know what this is? If you are British, you will almost certainly know that it's a dalek from the Sci-Fi TV show, Dr Who, which has been running for (on and off) over 50 years. I'm not sure how many of my international blog visitors will recognise it though (I do believe it's shown in the US).

This is my DT card for the latest challenge at Inkspirational , which is the word prompt 'space'. You can see I used two meanings - outer space and empty space on the design.

I found a dalek picture on the internet and digitally traced it in Silhouette Studio and cut it on my Silhouette electronic die cutter. Then I trimmed it so the dalek was coming in from off the page and backed it onto silver mirror card.

I had to photograph it from a funny angle to prevent my image appearing in the dalek - spooky!

I hope you will visit us at Inkspirational, see our DT creations and also our fabulous Guest Designer Sue T  - and link up your own creation inspired by the word 'space'.

My hubby would love this, he is a fan! The placement of the dalek is perfect, looks like he is about to launch an attack!

I definitely recognize a dalek when I see one and I'm Canadian! :) My boys, who are 10 and 13 are fans! In fact, we did a Dr. Who theme for my youngest boy's 10th bday party - the kids loved it. The door heading to our basement still looks like a Tardis, lol! I did a post about it:

My 13 year old was a Tardis for halloween this year too! Obviously, it has been a big topic of conversation in our house over the last while!
Anyhow, great interpretation of the prompt, love your card. But I am disappointed, I think it would have been fun to see your reflection in the dalek!!!
Hugs,
Shanna :)
p.s. I just showed my youngest son - his comment is "EXTERMINATE!" Big smiles from him this morning! He approves of your fun card. :)

I have a house full of Doctor Who fans here so your clever Dalek creation is very popular! Love the way you cut it with the Silhouette and so perfect for the challenge :)

So dramatic! The silver against black looks awesome and I am so impressed by your Silhouette machine. They do show Dr. Who in the USA. It does not seem to be as popular as you make it sound in the UK. I only tried it once and it was a little too much sci-fi for me. =)

I've heard of Doctor Who, but that's about it. I didn't know what a dalek was, but you got me curious, so I googled it and now I clearly see what you aimed to make. And very successfully too!

My nephew was a huge fan of Dr. Who when he was younger! He had me knit the scarf he wore and what a project THAT was! Great card! Thanks for joining us for this week's challenge at QKR Stampede!

OMG, I LOVE THIS!! We are big Dr. Who fans. My son loves Dr. Who. He was Dr. Who for a Halloween last year (Matt Smith version). The show is pretty popular here too but probably not as much as in the UK of course. :-). I love how you cut the dalek out of the mirrored paper and how it's off set and off the edge. The play on words is good too as your dalek says "celebrate" instead of "exterminate". Love everything about this card! :-)

Ohooo, I know Dr. Who :-) Awesome that you made it on your silhouette.
So sorry for being quiet in blog world recently but I went to a crafty convention all weekend. Had a fantastic time and shopped a lot (too much) whoops 😜
