Inkspirational Challenges - Card Plus Envelope

 

This time , at Inkspirational, Carol has chosen the challenge to make a card with a matching envelope - something I don't think I've ever done before! 

For my DT card, I found an autumnal patterned paper in my stash and repeatedly heat embossed a Stampin Up leaf stamp and cut them out. I used the same paper for a strip on the card and for the envelope. 

We'd love to see what you come up with and don't forget to see the brilliant takes on this of the other DT.

Diving In

 

My daughter asked me to make a 40th birthday card for her to give to a colleague. She sent me a photo of this poster for inspiration:

It took me a while to come up with an idea, but when I saw this card by Carol Mcfarlane, I was inspired to make a card with a diving swimmer. (Carol's card was inspired by an art print too!) 

My card is a bridge card with acetate to support the diver. The diver is a Glitz SVG from the Silhouette store , cut on a digital cutter.  I dry embossed the base and sides and stamped Happy Birthday.

New Baby

 

Getting ahead, I've made this card for a new baby boy, due next month. 

His parents live in London so I thought I'd use acetate to have a teddy (Hampton Art) floating above a city background (MFT).

Inkspirational Challenges - CAS/Inspired by a Movie

 

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is to make a CAS card , with the optional twist : Inspired by a Movie.

Can you guess what movie my card is inspired by?  Bambi! But something sad happened during the making of this card, The stamp is an old favourite from the Kitsch Christmas set by Avery Elle which does not appear to be on sale any more in the UK . In order to cut down using baby wipes for cleaning stamps, I decided to try cleaning my stamps with a microfibre cloth - but it ripped my stamp!!! Maybe I rubbed too hard.

The Library Challenge - October, October

I made this card for my new challenge at The Library , which is:

Actually, I could have done with a reminder from The Library, as my post is a day overdue. Hope I don't get fined! 

I love this book cover and could have gone a number of ways (the owl is great) but in the end I had multiple attempts at making a backgroud scene for the Stamping Bella character, and this was the best of them. I blended some inks onto some card and then repeat stamped and masked the hills / fields (Hobby Art) . The tree and birds are a Clarity stencil.

The bauble (aka ornaments) stamps here are by Vicki Boutin - each one is made up of four stamps and I wasn't sure on my first attemptm but I think I like them now. 

The sentiment stamp, from a Colarado Craft set,  is 'free' with a magazine this month - I say 'free' in inverted commas because I think really you're paying for the stamps and the magazine is included with them. 

To finish, I added three jewels and some hand-drawn strings.

For my DT card, I found a patterned paper that reminded me of the pattern at bottom left. I included tall buildings and autumn trees from the moodboard. The stamps are all Pink Fresh.

Can you see how I've been inspired by the book cover? The cake stand (MFT, coloured with markers and gold gel pen), the background colour and the gold embossed sentiment.

Good morning! Here's a porthole in a yellow submarine. The porthole was made with Lizzie Mayne cutting files and the seaweed etc, is by Miss Kate Cuttables. The fish stamps are My Favorite Things.
