The Library Challenge - The Girl in the Polka-dot Dress

 

The new challenge at The Library is The Girl in the Polka- dot Dress by Beryl Bainbridge. 

I haven't read this book, but it looks interesting and I've read one of her other books and really enjoyed it. 

For my card I went literal - a stamped girl with a paper-pieced dress and  a circular birthday stamped around.

 Is my little Pure Innocence character standing in front of a stylised Christmas tree or an iceberg? Either way, he has frost on his hat and gloves, which doesn't show in the photo.

Library Reminder - Coffee and Books

 

I love books but I don't like coffee...however, I have a friend who loves both, so I made this card for her, using a Waffle Flower stamp set.

Inkspirational Challenges - Seasonal

For my DT card I chose summer , which is just arriving in my corner of the world. 

I used an MFT stamp set called Sunny Vibes. I had a circle in my bits bag that I'd die-cut when making an aperture, so I snipped a bit off it and then coloured it with yellow distress ink.

It was a public holiday in England today, so I was able to skip work and do some crafting!

Over the Bridge

 I designed and cut this bridge card with my Silhouette electronic die cutter. The car stamp is Penny Black and the sentiment is Mama Elephant. I'll be sending it to my daughter in law so I hope it survives the journey through the mail!

Inkspirational - Mood Board

 

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is to be inspired by this mood board:

For my DT card I was inspired by the colours, the milk bottle and the butterfly.  Is it weird to put a milk bottle on a card? It's from a MFT 'milk and cookie' die set that I bought with enthusiasm but have barely used. In my head the scenario is - milk left by a milkman in a flowerbed by the front door and then a butterfly perches on it.  (Can't remember when I last saw a milkbottle or 'milkman' in real life.) Anyway, the flowers are by Lil Inkers and the butterfly is (I think) Avery Elle.

Pink Flowers

 This is (appropriately) a Pink Fresh stamp  and I stamped it off the page, coloured it with markers and stamped a sentiment.

My Cat Ate My Background .....

 

...but I used it anyway! 

A few weeks ago I had a play around with some Twinkling H2Os and other watercolour paints and left them all out to dry on my craft room table.  A few days later, I found this one on the floor with the 'distressing' on the right. There is only one suspect! (Once, he ate my straw hat.) 

Perhaps I should have thrown it away, but I didn't - I put it in my bits bag and today I was sifting through and noticed the star looked quite nice against it, The sentiment is one I designed and cut on my Silhouette but was too big for the project I was working on. I punched a few tiny stars out of some black glittery paper and it was done. 

Is it bad to send someone a birthday card that has been chewed by an animal???

The Library - The Reading List

 After a two year hiatus, I've re-started my challenge blog: The Library Challenge. 

Here's the inspiration book:

For my card I took inspiration from the reading/books theme and used this (well-loved) Stamping Bella stamp. Inspired by the colours I diecut the window out of blue card and made a smooshed background with orange ink.  Inspired by the bricks on the cover, I stencilled brickwork onto the grey base card.
