New Rules

CD Sunday challenge have just changed their rules to allow any digital downloads and the theme is Summer Holiday .

Here I used a digital image of some glasses, which was a freebie from Studio calico. Then I masked of the frames and stamped palm trees and seagulls on the lens.  I stencilled some some rays, stamped the sentiments and added some dots to the frames.

Library Reminder - Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus

Time for a reminder at The Library.

Here I was inspired by the speech bubble on the cover. After all the high tech crafting I've been doing lately, this really is back-to-basics, using just stamps, black ink and a marker pen. The speech bubbles are by Craftwork Cards and the sentiments are from several different sets.

Fashion Sketch

This week I've been playing with the sketch function on my Silhouette Cameo machine and made this to enter the Fashionable challenge at Time Out .

I found a clip-art line drawing online and manipulated it in the Silhouette Studio software to make it look sketchier. Then I put a pen in the blade holder and the machine sketched it out. The sentiment was also created on the Silhouette - the fabulous is cut out of purple card. Finally I made a card base and embossed it in a folder, and coloured the dress by scribbling with a marker. I also added a touch of clear shimmer pen to the hair and back.

Inkspirational - Photo

Our new challenge at Inkspirational, is  the photo below :

For my DT card I used lots of patterns and colours, which is how the photo inspired me. I hope you'll join in the challenge.

Don't Do That - Do This!

I've been experimenting with the 'sketch'function of my Silhouette electronic cutting machine. Here I used a snowman and sentiment from the Silhouette Design Store. But this wasn't my first attempt.....
Don't do that!!!!
The poor snowman has been lost in the blizzard of lovely glitter paste stencilled snow! The paste is lovely and sparkly and will be great on the right project - but this isn't it!  Also the snowman didn't stand out enough , even though I double 'sketched' it.

So, for my second attempt (top) I swapped the Silhouette brand white sketch pen for an ordinary white gel pen. Then, with the same pen, I added snow and a hand-doodled frame. Finally I added glitter pens to the hat, scarf and nose.

The Library Challenge - Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

The new book at The Library is Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!: Amazon.co.uk: Mo Willems: 9781844285136: Books
The last challenge we had The Tiger who Came to Tea - a book from my own childhood, but this is a 21st century children's book which (along with others in the series) I enjoyed  reading with my youngest child. That's him as he is now, in the scrapbook page at the top.

For my scrapbook page I used Basic Grey papers - it's a few years since this company closed down! I found a font that was similar to the cover on my PC, and cut out the speech bubble on the Silhouette.

For my second project I used a very old pigeon stamp by Blade Rubber and just coloured one pigeon with glitter pens. The sentiment is from MFTs unicorn set.

Two Musical Submarine Cards

Here are my cards for Twofer's  'nautical' theme challenge - they both use Woodware submarine stamp and they both have a musical connection:

Here I was inspired by The Beatle's famous Yellow Submarine song. The Beatles silhouette is one I traced with Silhouette Studio when I made this layout a few years ago . This time I made a sentiment using fonts on my computer and cut them all on the Silhouette. I stamped the submarine, masked it and stamped the marble background.

So, do you spot the musical connection here? By the power of masking I put some dogs inside the submarine and now it's a subwoofer! (A subwoofer is a kind of speaker, as you know!).  Then I added some fishes and bubbles to complete the scene.

Somersaults and Stereotypes

Every time I see my niece she's doing somersaults and handstands so I've made her this birthday card.

The 'falling circles' are Neat and Tangled and the circular sentiment is unbranded.

The gymnast stamp is by Waffle Flower - I was pleased to find this set has both female and male gymnasts. My grandson does ballet, but Waffle Flower's ballet set only has girl images. (And don't get me started on MFT's new doctor and nurse stamps.)

Giraffe

This card started out as a complicated affair , involving my Silhouette and scanning and tracing shapes and all sorts....but then I didn't like it!  So I just went CAS, doodled a frame round the wobbly image edge and stamped a Mama Elephant greeting. The main stamp is a very old one by Woodware.

BTW - a few people asked me about the location of my holiday craftroom in Wales, shown in a previous post ...it's Portmeirion.

Library Reminder - The Tiger who came to Tea

Time for a reminder at The Library.

Here I was inspired the word 'tea' in the title and the cover picture, and made a scrapbook page of my son eating a Cornish cream tea. He's not a tiger, but he sometimes has the appetite of one!

You can enter the challenge here.

Kickstart /Twofer Hybrid and my Holiday Craftroom

Christmas Kickstart has joined up with Darnell of the Twofer challenge this week - how could I not get involved?

Actually, I would have missed it if I hadn't taken a shoebox of craft stuff with me on my holiday in Wales. I had the most amazing craftroom at the top of our rented house, with a triple aspect view of the sea, mountains, village.. I made a couple of cards a day while the rest of the family slept - I'm always up hours before the others so this keeps me from being bored.

Edited to say: A few people asked me about the location of my holiday craftroom in Wales, ...it's Portmeirion.

For these cards the stamp I used was by Neat and Tangled. Both sentiments are from a Hero Arts set.

Here, I stamped and paper-pieced with some old magazine freebie paper.

Inkspirational -Travel

Our new challenge at Inkspirational, Pia has chosen the theme, Travel.

I think there's a lot of scope in this theme, perhaps modes of transport or people carrying their cases, but I went with a destination - Japan.  The woman - who sparkles in real -life as I coloured her kimono and umbrella with Spectrum Noir sparkle pen - was free with a magazine years ago. The lily pads and flowers are from a Sheena Douglass set and the sentiment is by Sarah Hurley.

I hope you'll join in our challenge at Inkspirational.
