This Is Why I Do Do Digis...

I know some stampers don't like to use digistamps and feel that they are 'cheating' - but I don't agree. I just see rubber/clear stamps and digital images as two different mediums, each with their own advantages.

For me, the big advantage of using digis is the ability to resize, which makes them so versatile. Here, I printed this A Day for Daisies digital image very large and cropped a third of it away. I shaded him with a grey Promarker and paper- pieced his clothes. I made a border with a Martha Stewart punch and stamped (physical stamps this time) the sentiment using an Avery Elle set.
So here I used the same digi, but this time sized small, duplicated and some of them flipped to mirror each other . I coloured them with Promarkers, stamped a Penny Black sentiment and embossed it with a Taylored Expressions embossing folder.

I'd like to enter the first (paper-pieced) card into:
Cards Und More  snowmen
Double D  red and white
Cardz 4 Galz  snowman
Sparkles Christmas snowman

I'd like to enter the second (4 snowmen) card into:
Casology  stormy - I think that's a snowstorm!
Cas-ual Fridays  winter blues
Cardz 4 Guyz  snowman
Always Fun  snowment

  1. Two super cards, Marina, I love how you've paper pieced the first one. I do use digi stamp sometimes, but I must admit that I do feel a bit like I've cheated. xx

  2. Both fabulous cards, especially love the second one with the embossing and the mini snowmen.
When I first started card making I used to think that about digi stamps too but since I 'discovered' digi's I'm converted and must admit now 90% of my cards are using digi's, 2 reasons for this being that you can resize to suit and the main one is being on a tight budget I would rarely be able to purchase stamp sets whereas I can have 4 or 5 new images for the same price ;)

  6. Apart from resizing and cropping I use my digis in the same way as my rubber stamps, so I don't feel using digis is cheating either. I love the qualities of digis as you mention, but it's also fun to rummage through stash rather than files, so I feel I'm enjoying both. Your cards here are brilliant examples of how to use digis in different ways and they're adorable!

  7. Great way to showcase the benefits of digis! I have a few, but don’t use them much. Mostly because of my printer. Great cards!

  8. Two super cards Marina and I love the way you have demonstrated the versatility of the digi stamps, I have been known to use them when I'm stuck for a specific image but after seeing this I might think about them more.

  18. These are both absolutely amazing Marina! I love the "giant" version, his paper pieced clothes look great! I don't think it's cheating to use digi stuff -I think I would use digis too if I just had the skills (or the patience to learn...). These two card show how versatile digis can be and what amazing designs one card make with them!
