Pro-Am Showdown #15 - Two-colour Christmas


This year, my self-imposed challenge is Pro-Am Showdown, where I take on a commercially produced card I've received (the Pro) and see if I can beat the professionals at their own game with my amateur card.

 Here is the card that inspired me: 
The mass-produced original 
As I was thinking about how to CASE this card, I came across the stamp, by Little Claire, in my stash and thought it had a similar feel. As the images are solid, rather than outline, I wasn't sure how I would get the multi-coloured look, so instead, I decided to go for just two colours and randomly ink the stamp with them both. (This was my second attempt - it turned out too muddy first time). 

 To add the gold touches, I stamped and embossed the sentiment (Hero) and mounted the panel on gold mirror card, with just the edges showing.

    I prefer your card to the pro one! It's a great idea, I have several "pro" cards set aside to CASE one day, now I've seen yours I really must give it a go.

    Well done, Marina! Your card is so much prettier than the one with which you challenged yourself. Love the way you've used the two colours on the stamp. That, in itself, was quite the challenge. I can well believe the first attempt was "muddy". I think the addition of the gold foil behind the stamped piece was a brilliant idea. It adds so much elegance.     I like your version better than the original one! Yours has that lovely gilded vertical border strips and your image is wonderful.

    Love how you got the colors so perfectly...I have tried inking my stamp with 2 colors and mine doesnt look half so neat
