Crafty Crafting Away - Hippo Birthday Kit

In this post  I told how I smuggled a bag of craft things away on my family holiday. This included three kits I'd made up and this is the second kit, which was inspired by this Hero Arts kit. ;

includes MFT Happy Hippos, gold glitter ep, yellow washi and diec cuts of candles and bunting
Here's what I made:

Here I used six stamps, all from the My Favorite Things Happy Hippos set,coloured with Promarkers. During the making of this card, the paper trimmer I'd taken with me started to chew the card instead of cut it. Later in the day I managed to buy a cheap one locally for £7.50!

Here I made a one-layer-card, using a hippo and sentiment from the set, and my grey Promarkers.

More stamps from the Happy Hippos set, plus a sentiment (?)  and a die-cut banner. I took one paper pad (Lawn Fawn) with me - this pp and the paper on the yellow card above came from it. I added spots to the bunting, hat and gift , using a white gel pen.

I cut a few birthday themed shapes (from white cardstock)  on the Silhouette to include in the kit . I used the sketch at Case this Sketch . I embossed the candles with gold glitter embossing powder and coloured the flames with gold Delicata Ink.

Here I used strips of metallic and glitter paper. I paper-pieced the balloons using the pink metallic paper.

I'll post the pictures of the third kit later.

  16. I love this idea of making your own kit to bring along, maybe I'll do that when going to my family for Christmas. Last year I only brought with me promarkers and non colored images, and I sat there with my sister coloring while the kids were playing nicely and our parents probably snoozed off or watched tv on Christmas Day, very cozy. The row of hippos is a great concept for a one layer card. I also find the glitter and shine gold one to be a stylish, modern birthday card.
