City Crafter - Zig - a -Zag - Ah

At City Crafter, I've chosen the theme of zig-zags .

For my DT card, I  went zigzag crazy. I made a stepper card base (which in itself is just a zigzag of card) . I chose an image of a polar bear with zigzags on his outfit, I stamped chevrons and added some orange zigzag washi tape.

I hope you'll join in the challenge.

Ramp it Up....

Yes! Ramp up the Christmas card-making because it's only about 5 weeks before international mail will be sent out. And I'm ramping up the layers and embellishment (for me lately)  on this card.

I used a digital image by Mo's Digital Pencil, coloured with Promarkers and adding glitter and shimmer pen. I used some old freebie paper , a big wooden button and some blue pearls. The senteiment is by Little Claire.

The Library Challenge - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

At The Library , Lynda is the Visiting Librarian (Guest Designer) and she's chosen the challenge - The Lion , The Witch and The Wardrobe by CS Lewis .

I read this book as a child. I was really fascinated by the idea of going to another world through a wardrobe.

And I actually had a little taste of what that would be like at an interactive Abba exhibition at the Southbank Centre in London, earlier this year. We looked around a recreation of the hotel room in Brighton were Abba stayed when they won the Eurovision Song Contest. In the corner was a big old wooden wardrobe, not dissimilar to the one on my card. Suddenly, the guide opened the wardrobe door and led us through the wardrobe to a recreation of the Swedish countryside! It was amazing!

Back to my card, I used a wardrobe cutting file from the Silhouette store. The sentiment 'believe in the Magic of Christmas' is by Little Claire'. I stamped and coloured the deer and trees, and stencilled the snowdrift - there's a lot of glitter on the inside panel of the card but it doesn't show in the photo.

We'd love you to join in with the challenge...

Bear Binge

I saw the inspirational photo at Inspired by  and had hoped to make a sophisticated project inspired by the tartan flasks  ... and ended up making a cutesy card with a bear bingeing on sweet stuff and a tartan tablecloth.

What occasion is this for? It's got some Christmassy colours and patterns but doughnuts are not really Christmasssy are they? I know some people who don't celebrate Christmas , so it's the kind of card I could give to one of them if they were there when I was giving out cards.

I'd also like to enter it at Stamp Ink Paper.

Distressed Leaf

Here I tried to make a card that was both distressed and CAS.

When I bought a copy of The French Lieutenant's Woman on Ebay, I was annoyed when it started to fall to pieces while I was still reading it. But I've had many years of use of its pages on craft projects and recouped the cost of the book many times over!

City Crafter - Silver Bells

At City Crafter, Kirsty wants us to use lots of silver on our creations.

For my DT card, I  used a lot of silver, although you can barely tell from the photo! The die-cut sentiment is cut from silver mirror card. The girl has silver glitter highlights on her skates and ear muffs. and there ares silver glitter drops in the corner.

I hope you'll join in the challenge.

Use Your Loaf

For a couple of days I've been mulling over some ideas for the Twofer Challenge, harvest theme.

My daughter came to visit yesterday, and asked me to make a Thanksgiving card for her to give to a friend. She was very surprised when I said 'Yes please! Thank you! Thank you!'. You see , I've always seen fabulous Thanksgiving cards on people's blogs and always wanted to make one but we don't have that holiday in the UK. But my daughter's friend is married to an American , and they've invited her round for an early Thanksgiving celebration before they go to the States.

So anyway, when I was composing my Thanksgiving card I realised that the stamps I used also worked for Harvest and the bread loaf, could double up as a 'bun' to go in the oven....

So here's my first ever Thanksgiving card , I used stamps from 3 different sets and stamped them in brown ink. I stamped over the sentiment and foliage  with a gold ink and although it doesn't really look gold, when you move the card, it shimmers.

I needed to make this card really quickly, because for Twofer, I had to photograph both cards together and my daughter wanted to take the Thanksgiving card away with her. So I went with a CAS, one-layer design.  If you're visiting my blog and don't understand the occasion, we have a joke in the UK (and probably elsewhere) that when a woman's pregnant she has a 'bun in the oven'. So, it's a pregnancy congratulations card.
