Two Butterfly Cards

I'm joining in with the Twofer Challenge  again, and this month you have to create two cards using a butterfly stamp. I used a butterfly stamp by Avery Elle. I know butterfly stamps are popular but I do usually find it quite hard to come up with ideas for using them, so I'm quite pleased I managed to do so this time.

For my first card I stamped and embossed it on kraft, coloured it with alcohol markers and cut it out.  I stamped splatters using purple ink and a Paper Artsy stamp. The sentiment is Clearly Besotted. I added shimmer pen to the butterfly and Nuvo drops.

I know butterflies aren't usually used for Christmas cards as (in the northern hemisphere) we don't get butterflies at that time of year. But, to be honest, we don't usually get snow either! Or Santa Claus!

I stamped the butterfly on blue cardstock, adding stars to the wings, embossed and cut out.  I added frantage to the white base, plus snowflakes punched from silver card, some clear gems and the sentiment (Little Claire). The base (I know it looks black in the photo) is actually a pearlescent navy blue.

  1. Two pretty cards and I especially like the one that you've made with the Kraft card. I really like the splash of colour in the background and the touches of purple throughout. Thank you for sharing this with us at Stamping Sensations and good luck. Sandra x

  2. You don't get Santa Claus at Christmas, Marina?? Goodness, do hope Père Noël is there instead then! Your Christmas butterflies are a delight ... the delicate frostiness you created with the tiny snowflakes on them and cascading in the background is fabulous! The richness of your thank you card is wonderful ... such delicious vibrant colour and splendid shimmer! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

  6. I like that you used only parts of the butterfly on the first card and how you popped the full wing for dimension. Also love the purple and splatter. I wouldn’t have thought of making a Christmasy card with butterflies, but the idea is brilliant and you gave them a very snow and wintery look for this purpose. Great job!

  12. You certainly knew how to use your butterflies beautifully! I can't believe you said you struggle with them! I love the splotches of purple on craft and the positioning of your butterfly on your thank you card. What wonderful, frosty wings to celebrate Christmas! Wouldn't that be fun in real life! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!

  13. I'm with you, Marina. I have all these butterfly stamps and dies and rarely make cards with them so I chose this prompt on purpose. Now I'm getting lots of inspiration! For instance, it never occurred to me to make a "Christmas butterfly" in beautiful winter blue and white, but I love how unique and stunning your card is! And the purple and gold thank you card is a schparkly sensation! You should edit your post and add it to the Inkspirational challenge where the theme is purple and gold! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #5!! Hugs, Darnell
