Tenth Birthday

Tomorrow, my youngest child hits double figures. He is football (soccer) mad. He plays for his school and for a local team and is an ardent supporter of Arsenal. He often plays in goal.

Actually, we ordered him a football rebounder for his present and Amazon delivered it to our porch. Unfortunately they failed to put it into an Amazon box and so when we came home one day last week, he was able to see from the picture on the packaging exactly what he's getting. Annoying.

So, for his birthday card I used a digital stamp by Lily of the Valley. I printed it large and cropped it at the corner. I coloured it with alcohol markers.  Then I stamped a sentiment by My Favourite Things. The two stars on the white card were originally on the part of the image that was cropped away, so I cut them out and stuck them on.

I'd like to enter:

  2. What a great card, Marina. Especially for a soccer-mad boy's birthday. It's too bad he saw the picture of what he's getting but that isn't the same as getting his hands on it. His happiness will trump the lack of surprise. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

  3. Wonderful card for a football-mad 10 year old. Hope he has a great birthday. It was a shame he saw the picture of his birthday present, but I'm sure he will be really excited to play with it tomorrow. xx

  4. Super fun card, I am sure he will like it. They do not have school teams that young here, but we do have club, so I am well versed with that schedule. Hope he has a great bday and tfs!

  6. Terrific card but such a shame that Mr Amazon was so thoughtless. I bet it will be well used.

  13. You're the queen of cropping and combining images. I think I know this image, but wouldn't have recognized it if you hadn't mentioned the brand and the cropping. My nephew who'll turn ten in May is the keeper on his team too, this card is great inspiration!
