Card for a Sad Occasion
Sadly, my daughter asked me to make a card for her friend who gave birth prematurely and lost the baby soon afterwards. My daughter said she didn't want a traditional sympathy card - she wanted
'something pretty and colourful'.
I used some Prima papers I got free with a magazine. The yellow birds are from a stamp set that came with the paper pack and the birdhouse is from another magazine freebie. I die cut the doily - the cardstock isn't red as it looks in the photo, but a raspberry pink, and stamped 'thinking of you'.

Such heartbreaking news! I'll say a prayer for your daughter's friend. Unfortunately, I have a little nephew in Heaven, born prematurely and left us 3 days later. That was 9 years ago and it's still very tough for my brother. This is a very subtle but pretty card that should lend some comfort and express the love and support of your daughter. These are the tough cards to make but truly labor of love. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteSuch sad news Marina but this card is just right I think.

You have made the perfect card for such a sad event. I love the soft subtlety of the background and the bird image is just so peaceful.

This must have been a challenging task, it's really difficult to make sympathy cards for such a sad occasion... I think you made a card that fits your daugter's directions, and it's a beautiful one.
ReplyDeleteA very lovely card for your daughter's friend. You made wonderful choices in both the paper and stamps. And it fits the current challenge at Tuesday Throwdown perfectly. Thanks so much for playing. Good luck. Hope to see you back next week with a card for a much happier occasion.
