Library Reminder - To The Lighthouse

Time for a reminder at The Library.

For this scrapbook layout I used a photo taken on holiday in France, about six years ago. (The tiny figure in the yellow top is my son.) You might notice that the lighthouse is not actually in the sea, but in the middle of the street - I don't know why!

I used travel-themed patterned paper as my base and cut circles and the title on my Silhouette, Everything else used on this layout has been in my stash a long time!  The lighthouse (bottom right) was sticker from October Afternoon - it had sea and rocks at the bottom so I cropped them off.

Xmas Checklist

For this card I used the Santa and checklist from a Mama Elephant set, colouring the Santa with Promarkers. I stamped the gifts (all one stamp, unbranded)  and stars (from another set that was on my desk)  in red ink - and done.

Sunflower Idol

This old sunflower stamp (Anita's) is trying out for my daughter's wedding stationary.

Can you teach an old stamp new tricks? It hadn't been stamped for a while and was languishing at the bottom of a box of old wood-block stamps, but when the call went out for sunflowers, I ripped it off its block to use in a stamping platform.

I stamped it, off-centre, in brown ink on yellow cardstock , added a generic sentiment and some Nuvo drops and then mounted it on several layers.

We're now waiting to hear back from the judges.

Inkspirational Challenge - Garden

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by the word, 'garden'.
My DT card is very simple - I printed off an image from Just Inklined CD and had lots of fun colouring it in with Promarkers.  Milla is still our Guest Designer, so please do come and see what she and the rest of the DT have made.

The Library Challenge - To The Lighthouse

The new book at The Library  is To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf.

To be honest, I haven't actually read this book - I just liked the cover- okay??!!

And I didn't really show much variation on the two cards I made - they've both got lighthouses on them - surprise! Actually, they both also used a mix of stamps from different sets, are both blue and yellow, and have almost no colouring-in!

For my first card I went one-layer and used two blue ink colours and a tiny touch of yellow.

I'd like to enter this card into:

My second card draws more from the cover , using silhouette stamps (again, from a mix of sets) over a stencilled background .  (I used one stamp on both cards - did you spot it?)

I'd like to enter this card into:

I hope you'll visit The Library.

New Job Card

My partner is starting a new job in two weeks, so I've made this card to wish him luck.

It's just stamping! In one ink colour! The pencils are an old UM stamp from Lost Coast and the stars (two stamps) are Pink Fresh. I thought the Take Note stamp went well with the pencils (I'll write 'good luck on the new job' inside) - it's by Bo Bunny.

A little bird told me..

I made this card to send to a friend to congratulate her on a creative career achievement.

The bird, heart and flower are by Flora and Fauna - I did a kind of scribbly colouring in with Promarkers and added shimmer pen to the wing, tail and heart. The stitching stamps are by 19 and Market and the sentiment is Pink Fresh Studio.

The Library Reminder - The Art of Stripes

Time for a reminder at The Library.

The book is The Art of Stripes, so I used a canvas (art!) and a zebra (stripes). I was actually inspired to make this when I saw this Sara Miller range of pottery.

I got out all my red and orange shades of acrylic paint and mixed them together and painted onto a canvas. The zebra was an SVG electronic cutting file from Hungry Jpeg. I also used an SVG from Lia Griffith to cut a big leaf stencil out of packaging (I used the cut-out leaf here) and stencilled it with Distress Inks.

You can enter the challenge here .
