Library Reminder - The Rainbow

Time for a reminder at The Library.

I made an 'encouragement' card for my daughter and coloured it using Zig Clean Colour markers. The hippos have a special relevance to my daughter and me - I won't go into it! But she got it.

Go Bananas

Did I tell you I'm on a stash diet? It's going pretty well so far. I'm trying to make an effort to use the stuff I already have.

The Lawn Fawn set with the blender, milk and peeled bananas for example - I can only remember using it once and then only the blender. Here I stamped , masked and coloured with Promarkers. The unpeeled banana is from a Woodware set and the stamped sentiment is Avery Elle. I designed and cut Go Bananas on the Silhouette.

Inkspirational - Three or Five of Something

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to use 3 or 5 of something.

For my DT card I stamped three birds (Justrite), selectively coloured with pink shimmer pen . I stencilled the background very lightly and added sentiment and sequins.

Milla is still our Guest Designer, so please do come and see what she and the rest of the DT have made.

Put a Ring on It

Well, along with cleaning, washing, ironing and helping clear out the shed , I've actually made three cards today! I blogged one earlier and here are the other two.

I was inspired, by a visit to Sherri's blog  to try the embossed black magic technique, which I've used on the right hand card. The other card was just a practice for the embossed card - just seeing how well the Paper Artsy flower fit inside the circular sentiment (brand unknown).  But when I'd finished the first card I just decided I might as well make it into a card too!

The Library Challenge - The Rainbow

The new book at The Library is The Rainbow by DH Lawrence.
An Unrushed Walk Through A Very Different Time - The Rainbow by D.H. Lawrence | Byte The Book
I really was intending on using the colours on the cover and the shape of the stool ...but in the end I just went with rainbows in general!

For my first card (above) I masked off the edges and painted stripes of twinkling H20s in rainbow colours and then sprayed them with water. (TBH I didn't have any indigo - hope I've got away with it.) I used an Avery Elle panda and a sentiment from Pink Fresh 'Brilliant' set - my favourite sentiment set at the moment.

The rainbow flag (seen in the background of the large photo) is a symbol of LGBT pride so I decided to scrap some photos of Pride in London. The bigger photo shows my daughter waving the flag of the Royal College of Midwives, and the second is with her partner.  I used lots of colourful paper and embellishments from a range of sources and a title cut on the Silhouette,

Buzzing

Here's two cards with a bee stamp for the Twofer challenge.

My first cards combines two stamp sets, stamped onto kraft and coloured with Zig Clean Colour markers plus doodled trail and frame.

For my second card I stamped the bees onto a subtle yellow patterned paper and then paper-pieced onto the girl's dress.

Right, I'd better buzz off to work now - laters!

Library Reminder - To The Lighthouse

Time for a reminder at The Library.

For this scrapbook layout I used a photo taken on holiday in France, about six years ago. (The tiny figure in the yellow top is my son.) You might notice that the lighthouse is not actually in the sea, but in the middle of the street - I don't know why!

I used travel-themed patterned paper as my base and cut circles and the title on my Silhouette, Everything else used on this layout has been in my stash a long time!  The lighthouse (bottom right) was sticker from October Afternoon - it had sea and rocks at the bottom so I cropped them off.

Xmas Checklist

For this card I used the Santa and checklist from a Mama Elephant set, colouring the Santa with Promarkers. I stamped the gifts (all one stamp, unbranded)  and stars (from another set that was on my desk)  in red ink - and done.

Sunflower Idol

This old sunflower stamp (Anita's) is trying out for my daughter's wedding stationary.

Can you teach an old stamp new tricks? It hadn't been stamped for a while and was languishing at the bottom of a box of old wood-block stamps, but when the call went out for sunflowers, I ripped it off its block to use in a stamping platform.

I stamped it, off-centre, in brown ink on yellow cardstock , added a generic sentiment and some Nuvo drops and then mounted it on several layers.

We're now waiting to hear back from the judges.

Inkspirational Challenge - Garden

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is to be inspired by the word, 'garden'.
My DT card is very simple - I printed off an image from Just Inklined CD and had lots of fun colouring it in with Promarkers.  Milla is still our Guest Designer, so please do come and see what she and the rest of the DT have made.

The Library Challenge - To The Lighthouse

The new book at The Library  is To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf.

To be honest, I haven't actually read this book - I just liked the cover- okay??!!

And I didn't really show much variation on the two cards I made - they've both got lighthouses on them - surprise! Actually, they both also used a mix of stamps from different sets, are both blue and yellow, and have almost no colouring-in!

For my first card I went one-layer and used two blue ink colours and a tiny touch of yellow.

I'd like to enter this card into:
Craft Rocket  summer

My second card draws more from the cover , using silhouette stamps (again, from a mix of sets) over a stencilled background .  (I used one stamp on both cards - did you spot it?)

I'd like to enter this card into:

I hope you'll visit The Library.

New Job Card

My partner is starting a new job in two weeks, so I've made this card to wish him luck.

It's just stamping! In one ink colour! The pencils are an old UM stamp from Lost Coast and the stars (two stamps) are Pink Fresh. I thought the Take Note stamp went well with the pencils (I'll write 'good luck on the new job' inside) - it's by Bo Bunny.

A little bird told me..

I made this card to send to a friend to congratulate her on a creative career achievement.

The bird, heart and flower are by Flora and Fauna - I did a kind of scribbly colouring in with Promarkers and added shimmer pen to the wing, tail and heart. The stitching stamps are by 19 and Market and the sentiment is Pink Fresh Studio.
