The Library Challenge - All Creatures Great and Small

The new book at The Library is All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot.

All Creatures Great and Small: The Classic Memoirs of a Yorkshire Country Vet (James Herriot 1) By James Herriot | World of Books

For my first card (top) , I was clearly inspired by the cover, This country scene was printed from a My Craft Studio CD - it was a uncoloured image in the No Stamp Required folder, so I coloured it with Promarkers and stamped a sentiment.

I'd like to enter:

For my second card I took inspiration from the title- this being a small creature!  I cut the sentiment on the Silhouette and used the negative , putting striped paper behind it. Then I stamped the sun, bee and trail and added dots to the edges.

The Library Challenge Reminder - Chocolat

The current challenge at The Library  is Chocolat by Joanne Harris - it's set in France and there's an Eiffel Tower on the cover. I cut all the pieces on the Silhouette digital cutter . The papers were Craftwork Cards papers that came free with a magazine - long, long, ago.

The Library Challenge - Chocolat

At The Library, the book is  Chocolat by Joanne Harris.

I read this book (published in 1999) when it was quite new and I loved it. But even if you haven't read it, there's loads of ideas on the cover.

For my first card (at the top) I used a very old Magenta stamp, coloured with Promarkers and a touch of shimmer pen for a sugar glaze. The speckled background was made with a spray mist.

I'd like to enter the chocolates card into:

I Love Promarkers  something square

For my second card, I took inspiration from the eggs on the cover. The bunny stamp is an old magazine freebie, coloured with Promarkers and paper-pieced. The eggs were from a Heffy Doodle set.

I'd like to enter the bunny card into:

I hope you'll join in the challenge at The Library.

Let's Go Fly a Kite - Mary Poppins at The Library

I made another card to promote the Mary Poppins challenge at The Library.

I used Distress Inks and Hunkydory silhouette stamps.

This card was inspired by the film rather than the book ....but as the film was inspired by the book, that counts! Whereas I don't think there were kites in the original book, one does feature in the sequel (and I read that this scene is in the Mary Poppins Returns film).

Watercolour Poppy

I think this is the first time I've joined in the challenge at CAS Watercolour Challenge (although I'm a regular at their sister blog, CAS Christmas. But visiting Ros Crawford's blog I noticed the theme is 'poppies' and as I had a poppy stamp handy, I thought I'd join in.

Poppies have quite contradictory connotations, both naughty (opium), and nice;  both jolly, and sad (remembrance). I wanted to show that with quite 'pretty' colouring combined with a splash of black.

This was not my first attempt! On my first few attempts I used a lot more water and paint but I wasn't really happy with the effect. I also tried stamping panels showing just parts of the poppy but they looked a bit odd. Finally I went for a simple single poppy in a square panel. I added water just to the paint (Lindy's Magicals, so it has a touch of shimmer) and then sprayed with Lindy's flat black spray.

As well as CAS Watercolour, I'd like to enter:

The Library Challenge Reminder - Mary Poppins

I'm sharing an ATC for the Mary Poppins theme at The Library .

Tbh it's not new - I made it a couple of years ago to swap at a retreat - but I don't believe I've blogged it before. It's a bit 'darker' than the Mary Poppins' cards I made last week and so I think it fits well with the Mary of the books, who's a little less sweet than the film version.

I'd like to enter:

Inkspirational - Pop It Up

Our new challenge at Inkspirational is to 'pop it up' using foam tape etc to add dimension.
The girl's bunny outfit and the eggs are coloured with shimmer pens, so this is glittery in real-life.

I hope you'll join in the challenge.
