City Crafter Challenge Blog - Click

This week at City Crafter,, Kirsty wants us to use photos on our projects.

For my DT project I scrapped some photos from a 'plant-based fine dining' event we attended on holiday in the Isle of Wight. I used one sheet of Kaisercraft double-sided paper ( cut into three, the green grid pattern on the ends and the circle patterned side in the middle). I cut the title on the Silhouette and used lots of very old flower stickers and chipboard embellishments.

I used a layout from Sketches in Thyme.

I hope you'll get out your photos and join us this week.

Sailing

My son's grandad is having an operation today and my partner is going over to see him (it's his stepfather). I made this card as quickly as I could so he can take it with him.

I stamped the sea, boat and birds and sponged the sky and then sponged the sea very lightly with the same ink. The porthole was cut on the Silhouette. I added some shimmer pen to the waves.

As you Like it  tbh I don't have a favourite colour - I love them all. But blue was my favourite for this card as it works for the sky and the sea and it suggests peace and optimism.

Dog Days of Summer

Here's a card I made to join in some challenges - but I'm not sure now whether it actually qualifies for one of them!

I stamped the dog, masked it and added sky and stencilled grass. The sun and sentiment are from a Hero set. I coloured the dog and sun with Promarkers.

The whole card was inspired by the 'dog days of summer' theme at Dragonfly Journeys and I think the sun also meets the 'hot' theme at Shopping Our Stash . The colour theme of the dog and sun was chosen by the challenge at Cards in Envy , 'yellow and black' - but now I realise that by adding the background, I may have disqualified myself! I'll enter anyway and apologise if you think I'm a rule breaker.

Inkspirational Challenges - Snap

Our new challenge at Inkspirational  is the word 'snap'. I made a magnetic bookmark in the shape of a crocodile - snap for his jaws snapping together and snap for the magnets snapping together as they hold the page of the book.

We have a wonderful Guest Designer Cathy , so please come over to Inkspirational and see what Cathy and the DT have made, and enter your own creation.

The Library Challenge - I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

There's a new challenge at The Library today.

I admit I haven't read the whole of 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings ', only excerpts. It's a beautifully written but upsetting autobiography.

For my first card I was inspired both by the cover and the idea of an autobiography. I used a mix of Distress and Distress Oxide inks for the background and stamped the sentiment and the bird.

I'd like to enter:

Cut it UP  die-cut (card base) and favourite colour (haven't really got a fave colour but I use orange a lot on my cards as it always seems to give them a lift)

My second card has nothing to do with the cover or story - I just took the words bird and cage from the title.

Two with a Triangle

Here are two cards using the same triangle stamp by Craftwork Cards, so I'll be entering them into the Twofer challenge.

glitter shot

My first card uses the triangle as both a Christmas tree and an A - it was actually part of a Christmas set but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a tree or banner or both. I cut the letters on the Silhouette and covered them with glitter , then stamped the 'merry'.

Here I used the triangle as mountains in the distance. I stamped and coloured the canoe and masked it off . I used second generation stamping to stamp the mountains and trees and coloured the water with ink and a stencil brush.

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Books

This week at City Crafter, Amy has chosen the theme 'books'

For my DT project I made a tag into a bookmark. I stamped the bear onto the blank book (both from a Waffle Flower set) , coloured them with Promarkers and added gloss to the glasses. The book titles were from other stamp sets and thewords 'book mark' and the heart stamp are by Clearly Besotted.

I hope you'll join in at City Crafter this week.

Deer + Forest + Sparkle = Christmas

There's lots of silvery sparkle on this card. The deer and trees are from the same stamp set and the sentiment is by Hero. I drew the snowdrifts ( quick , alert the Tate Gallery!) and coloured with Promarkers.

Inkspirational Challenge - Ice Lolly Picture

I was away on holiday when I realised I hadn't yet made my project for the Inkspirational  picture inspiration , below:
So I cynically bought my child an ice lolly on the condition he stood in front of a bright window display and let me take his photo. It was a win for him and a win for me , as I was able to quickly put together a layout when I got home.

Why not buy your child/ grand-child/ neighbour's child an ice lolly and join in our challenge? Or you could just make any project inspired by the photo and save the money on ices.

Chrissie  is our wonderful Guest Designer , so I hope you'll come and see what she and the rest of the DT have made.

I used the sketch from Sketchabilities:

Crafting Away - the whole kit

Here's the final card from the group of four I made while I was away on holiday, using a kit I made up at home. The flower was taken from my bits bag where it has languished for years - it's an A Day for Daisies digi, printed onto polka dot paper.

Here's the kit I made:

Under the Sun

Seeing one of  Ros Crawford's wonderful cards recently reminded me that I had the same old freebie stamp, a real favourite.

Here I stencilled yellow sunrays and stamped the silhouettes. The small seagull is part of the stamp and the large seagull is from another set. The sentiment is by Stampin Up.

You couldn't get a simpler card but it's taken me at least an hour-and-a-half. Just choosing a sentiment stamp took me ages.  It's the faffing about that takes the time!

Wigwam

A few weeks ago I was looking through my photos from summer 2015 and printed off this one.  I cannot forget that this is from 2015 - my son is wearing a garish yellow football top. It was his first ever Arsenal top (an away shirt?) and he is wearing it in 75% of the photos taken that summer. It really stands out! Actually, writing this has made me think that I should make a layout about the top ...but I digress...

When I saw the 'triangles' challenge at Use Your Stuff I thought they'd work with this photo. I cut the big triangles from some One Canoe Two paper - the other side has beautiful butterflies ( I used it here) so it was a dilemna, but I felt the B-side was just right. I doodled borders with  a white gel pen. The stickers are from the same brand and so is the base paper, although from a different range. The leafy paper is older than my son!

I'd also like to link up at Bimini Moose .

City Crafter - Sketch Pad

I chose this week's challenge at City Crafter, and it's to use one of these sketches that I created:

I made my card using the kit I made up to take on holiday with me.  The image is a Newton's Nook stamp , coloured with Promarkers and white gel pen.

I hope you'll join in the challenge this week.
