Make My Monday - Stitching

This week's challenge at Make My Monday  is 'stiching - real or faux'. I quite like sewing , but I don't like unpicking which is what most of my sewing attempts turn into. Therefore, I rarely sew on cards, worrying that I will wreck them.

So for this challenge, I bravely machine - stitched to attach the vellum to the card base. I know it's not very dramatic, but it is a good use of stitching, as vellum is hard to attach, and hopefully it will give me the confidence to stitch on cards again.

The flowers are AlteNew , embossed in gold, and the sentiment was die-cut.

Make My Monday - Sketch

This week we have a sketch challenge at Make My Monday , and I created the sketch (it's the first one I've done!):
For my DT card I cut the house and the circular mat on the Silhouette, and dry embossed the roof. The sentiment is stickers.

I hope you will have a go at using this sketch ... but not till you visited the Make My Monday  blog to see what the DT have done. See you there!

Make My Monday - Iris Folding

We have something a bit different for you at Make My Monday  this week - Iris Folding. I have tried this before many years ago and although I have seen stunning effects achieved, I don't really enjoy following the patterns.

So for my DT project I cheated and went freestyle - with limited succcess. I think the folded bit looks okay but oh, it's bulky at the back!

Well, a challenge is all about having a go and I had a go and I think you can do better than me. There is a link to some patterns on our challenge blog. I hope you'll come and see some better samples from the DT and join in with your own iris folding project.

Make My Monday - Building, Town or City

It was my turn to choose the theme at Make My Monday this week and I chose - building, town or city.  I had loads of ideas - new home card, 3d village (ambitious!) , London or Paris themed card...but in the end I went with this (above).  I used a scrap of Basic Grey What's Up 12x12 paper that had the buildings on it. The banner is a sticker from the BG paper pack and I stamped the sentiment inside it. The dog on the scooter is a Penny Black stamp that I coloured in and cut out.

I hope you will join in the challenge at Make My Monday.

Make My Monday - Girly Birthday , and Empty Box Project #9

This week's challenge at Make My Monday  (note our new URL)  is 'Girly Birthday'.

For my DT card I used a stamp by Stamping Bella that I took from my 'empty box project' box.

Just to recap:
On New Year's day I revealed my stamping shame - a big box of unused stamps - and started my Empty Box project. My aim is to work through the box , one stamp/ stamp set at a time and see if I can use them. If I can't use them, I will dispose of them. The aim is to finish with an empty box.

There was no real reason I'd not used this stamp before - I like it but just not got round to it. Fot this card I coloured it with Promarkers and stamped the sentiment (Clearly Besotted) in the corner. The background paper is by Crafty Individuals and I added mulberry, glittery and sparkly flowers and gems.

Please come over to our new web address and join our challenge at Make My Monday this week.

Make My Monday - Winter Birthday

Make My Monday is back and our first challenge for 2015 is 'Winter Birthday' .

I think the snowdrop is a lovely flower, with a touch of winter and the promise of spring - this digi is by Pink Gem and I coloured it with Promarkers and liquid pearls. I also used a computer generated sentiment, Martha Stewart border punch, green glitter paper and stick-on pearls.

I hope you'll join in our challenge at Make My Monday.

Make My Monday - New Beginnings

It's the first challenge of the year at Make My Monday, and our theme is New Beginnings.

Just before Christmas , my daughter's partner started a new job, so I made this card for him. Inside I wrote (Hope you don't find one of these (typewriter) on your desk.)!

I used a digital stamp of a typewriter ( I think it's from a Craft Artist digistmap collection ), to which I added text and coloured. The papers are from my scraps box and I used an embossing folder to make a chevron pattern on the base.

I hope you'll join us at Make My Monday.
